Sdkfz 221 in 1/72...
...a kit from First to Fight models
This is a recent kit from Polish manufacturer First to Fight, adding to their range of 1/72 injection moulded kits and one I am pleased to see. A basic wargamers model, with some simplifications therefore, yet with some detail that is more than we might expect. Within the hull of this 4-wheel armoured car there are details such as the driver's seat, gear lever and even an MP40 stowed on the interior side wall. Once the hull is closed up it is a shame that it will be unseen. The small, machine gun armed turret has the simple mesh cover done in solid plastic. On a more expensive kit it might be done in etch brass, but this one still looks OK. It does include a seated crew figure and transfers with the early war period plain white crosses and number plates.
The kit comes along with a magazine which has archive photos and details of the vehicle history, though it is all in Polish. There is also a colour illustration showing colours and markings. Built up it look good, and offers good value for money

The First to Fight kits are imported to the UK by Tiger Hobbies Ltd, where I bought my example.
