Another new addition to the TopDrawings series from Kagero, number 74, this time one for the warship modeller interested in Soviet vessels of the Cold War era. Commissioned into the Russian Navy in 1976, the Petropavlovsk was one of a 7-ship series of large anti-submarine warfare vessels. The basic story of the ship is provided in the Introduction on the opening page, the pros and conas of the design, and then its' eventually being sold for scrap to India in 1997.
Yje soft-cover book has 15 pages of scale drawings, in a mixture of scales to suit fitting the pages, detailing elements of the hull/superstructure, along with detailed drawings of the various radars, weapons systems, ships boats etc carried on the ship, including some 1/72 plans for the Kamov Ka-25 helicopter that was operated from the flight deck at the back of the ship. Tucked between the pages of the book are two larger sheets which fold out, providing the full ships drawings in 1/200 scale, illustrating the ship in both early and later configurations of her service career. One of the sheets has full colour illustrations of the Petropavlovsk, plus there are smaller colour profiles on the back cover of the book.
Another good addition to the TopDrawings series by Kagero, and one I am sure warship modellers will enjoy.
