Military Model Scene

The FMTV (Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles) was a project started back in the 1980's, with deliveries starting in the 1990's  Built in a number of variants, for the US armed forces they were to replace all the 2.5 and 5ton trucks in service.  The M1083 is the 6x6 5ton version (the lighter, 2.5 ton 4x4 version is the M1078).  The FMTV was based on an Austrian Steyr design, though substantially modified for the US requirements.

An injection moulded plastic model it is supplied ready assembled with just some detail fittings to be added.  These include the wing mirrors for the cab, the seating to fit inside the cargo body and the rear tow hook.  So, quick and easy to add those details and there is a diagram included to show the arrangement of the seating.  These can be assembled folded up against the sides (which I went for) or they can be fitted down if you want to add some seated figures.  A very nicely detailed model and of course these will go well alongside the well known range of Minitank models.  The M1083 serves in huge numbers and you have your choice of colours to finish it off, from overall sand to the multi-colour NATO camouflage patterns.
