Soviet Voroshilovets Tractor in 1/72...

...building the Trumpeter kit

Another Trumpeter kit in 1/72, and this goes back to the subject area of WW2.  The large Voroshilovets tractor was based on the suspension of the T-28 tank and was powered  by a detuned V12 engine, as used by the BT-7 and the T-34.  It was needed to be a gun tractor capable of pulling the large 152 - 305mm artillery pieces, as well as for tank recovery.  Over 1000 were built during the war, and a small number were used by the Wehrmacht once they were captured.  This is reflected in the two marking options provided for in the kit, one Russian and one German, the same as I believe they include in their larger 1/35 kit of the same tractor.

The breakdown of parts is neatly done in this smaller scale kit, with the load bed moulded in one piece, and with a full tilt which fits it perfectly.  The cab is also one piece, just a shame that the doors are moulded shut.  The image on the box art is a touch misleading as it suggests that the door can be fixed open and that there is clear plastic glazing for the cab windows.  That isn't the case unfortunately, though you can easily add some clear plasticard for the windows.  The track units are moulded in one piece, leaving you to add the outer halves of the suspension units each side.  This works well and looks good.  Now painted, just adding the transfers and  final weathering to do....

I bought mine from Tas Models in in Holland.
